You’re already a very capable leader. But does your team need you to show up as a winsome leader, as well?
What’s a winsome leader?
Not someone:
who seeks to be a pal to all
who puts on an image to seek admiration
sacrifices accountability in order to be liked
Instead, a winsome leader is a capable leader who is engaging, approachable, appealing, and visible.
To illustrate, a winsome leader:
has a temperate, receptive and reflective spirit
helps the team remember the “why” of its work, and be motivated by its broader, shared purpose
majors in “we,” not “I”
has an open door
walks around (physically and virtually), checking the pulse and temperature of the team members
spots opportunities to improve team culture and acts on those opportunities
The result of winsome leadership: the team feels very fortunate to have you as its leader, and in response collaborates to provide excellent and timely work products.
What practices will help you grow as a winsome leader? A coach can help you discover the practices that are effective and natural for you.
